Engage employees to positively impact biodiversity and climate change.

Connecting with those unaware of climate change

It's uncommon for everyone around you to share the same sustainable awareness. Connecting with those unaware of climate change and biodiversity loss can be challenging.

Road with a Storm

Friends and family usually understand your concerns, but at work, a gap often exists. With 2023 set to be the hottest year, addressing the ClimateCrisis is more urgent than ever. Some colleagues are fully committed but struggle to instigate change. The question on everyone's mind: 'How do I influence co-workers positively?'

The good news? Not everyone needs to be fully aware and committed. Team-building activities offer a day of engaging fun that unites employees. Regenerative team-building activities garner the most engagement and create a positive impact.

Imagine 500 employees planting trees or creating habitats for animals. What may seem like a game holds significant potential for biodiversity.

Explore how these activities strengthen team bonds, foster collaboration, and impact the environment in just half a day.

Here are three main sustainable activities that Betreat offers as a positive step for the environment:

Lake Geneva

Understanding Ecosystems -

The Biodiversity Collage

Objective: To help people understand the issues and pressures surrounding biodiversity, based on the IPBES report, through a fun, collaborative, visual workshop that is accessible to all.

How it works: The first part is educational; structured into 5 batches, the participants, divided into teams of 5 to 7 people, have to find the links between the 39 cards to understand what biodiversity is, what it contributes, and what degrades it. Later, the hands-on action starts where we weed out Asian knotweed. The task involves hand-pulling of Asian knotweed and invasive alien plants.

Benefit: Preserve Lake Geneva and its biodiversity.

Construction of a 'Tower of Life,' a mission for nature.

Objective: To further educate and raise awareness among participants about nature, the environment, regional sustainability, and society. This involves imparting new skills and knowledge about habitats, animals, and plants.

How it works: The activity begins with a warm welcome to Jurapark Aargau and an explanation of the tasks. Participants are divided into teams and tasks are assigned. Using natural resources like wood, branches, soil, stones, grass, and more, we construct habitats for animals and insects that have lost theirs due to deforestation and climate change. After the hands-on activity, participants enjoy a coffee break followed by an aperitif and an organic lunch made with farm-sourced ingredients.

Benefit: The project aims to preserve diversity while maintaining and improving valuable habitats such as hedges, forest edges, ponds, or dry stone walls.

Natural Amazonian Candle Workshops

Objective: The Urucuna Natural Handmade Candles workshop utilizes ingredients sourced from the Amazon, enabling participants to connect intimately with the diverse socio-biodiversity of our world. Through essential oils, it provides an aromatherapeutic experience.

How it works: Crafting a natural handmade candle involves exploring diverse textures, aromas, and temperatures.

Amazonas

Benefit: This initiative contributes to the positive impact on traditional communities engaged in sustainable extractivism. By purchasing breu essential oil, a fragrant resin from the Amazon used by local communities for various therapeutic and medicinal purposes, it supports these communities.

Each activity is designed with three integral phases. The social aspect encourages teamwork among participants, fostering collaboration and cohesion. An educational segment provides essential information about the activity's purpose and significance, empowering participants with valuable insights. Finally, a celebratory phase allows everyone to revel in the outcomes achieved, offering a moment to relax and enjoy drinks, a sounds healing session, or lunch together.

Imagine the immense potential: if every company embraced this approach three times a year with their employees, alongside other complementary activities, the immediate and fruitful results would not only benefit the environment but also pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow.

Ice melting because of climate change

The whole of life is coming to terms with yourself and the natural world.

Why are you here? How do you fit in? What’s it all about?”
